energy efficiency

In the quest for decarbonization and energy neutrality, energy efficiency is vital.

Nuoro can offer you:

Energy use in the water sector

Today, the amount of energy used in the water sector is almost equivalent to the entire energy demand of Australia. Most of this is in the form of electricity; in 2014 some 4% of global electricity consumption was used to extract, distribute and treat water and wastewater, along with 50 million tonnes of oil equivalent of thermal energy, mostly diesel used for irrigation pumps and gas in desalination plants. Over the period to 2040, the amount of energy used in the water sector is projected to more than double. The largest increase comes from desalination, followed by large-scale water transfer and increasing demand for wastewater treatment (and higher levels of treatment).

Water energy nexus: Integrated thinking on energy and water is essential to mitigate future stresses

There’s a huge untapped potential for energy savings in the water sector. The largest savings are possible in wastewater treatment, desalination and water supply. To leverage this potential and realize energy efficiency, Nuoro applies a systematic approach: we start from a holistic view on the process requirements to make a detailed selection of the best available technologies and equipment. Then, we design and implement an advanced control layer based on smart monitoring and sensing techniques. Finally, we ensure optimal operations by providing the required know-how and support.
