In October 2022, Nuoro began developing five innovative, mobile water treatment installations commissioned by VITO. These containerized systems, equipped with advanced membrane filtration technologies, will play a crucial role in VITO’s research on water recovery, aiming to improve water quality and availability in Flanders.
Flanders faces increasing challenges in water management due to the effects of climate change and human activities. In response, the Flemish government, through the Blue Deal, is intensifying efforts to combat drought and water scarcity. VITO, a key player in Flanders’ water transition, is investing in pilot installations through the Water Climate Hub to test the most promising water purification technologies.
Nuoro has designed five independent, modular water treatment units for VITO. These fully automated and IIOT-connected units offer maximum flexibility and can be deployed either individually or as a treatment train, depending on specific research needs. The project, currently in the detailed engineering phase, is expected to transition to the construction phase in early 2023, with commissioning planned for the summer of 2023.
